Neeps and Tatties
4-6 medium sized turnips
4-6 medium sized potatoes (I use Yukon Gold because that’s generally what I buy)
1 Tbs Olive oil
1- 1/2 tsp Balsamic vinegar
Fresh ground pepper
1 Tbs Minced roasted garlic
4 Tbs butter
Scrub the turnips and peel the potatoes. Quarter them all. Drizzle some olive oil in a largish crock pot. Put the potatoes and turnips in. Drizzle balsamic vinegar over top. Sprinkle garlic and pepper over the top. Cook on low for 6-8 hours (until you can cut them with a fork)
Take your hand mixer and mash them right in the crock pot so all the juice is incorporated. Add butter and let it soften a few minutes them mix it in too.
Great with a grilled steak with a garlic rub.
