Im so glad I found your blog! This hat is great but I was looking for a crochet slouchy beret (on Ravelry) if at all possible. What does "magic loop" mean btw? I am a knitter but don't work on circulars if I can help it. LOL

Great blog and BFN, Geraldine

Hi! Make 1 knitwise means make one as if knitting so it matches the rest of the stitches. Same for make 1 purlwise. I recommend TechKnitter's Invisible Increase at http://techknitting.blogspot.com/2007/05/very-nearly-invisible-increase.html. She shows it knitwise but you can do the same thing from the back purlwise.
Does that help?

I made this Slouchy Hat (I prefer the term "Slouchy Hat" to "Tam", thankyouverymuch). It was only the second hat I've ever made and I LOVE IT!

I made this thing in only one night, which is a record for me, and I'm actually unashamed to wear it (another first)! I'm going to do another one this weekend. I think I'll try casting on more stitches and using a smaller needle for the ribbing to make it stretchier. I'll also do more rows to make it slouchier. Everybody I know is getting one of these things for Christmas. Whether they like it or not. I'm so thrilled! Thank you thank you Sleepycat!

I LOVE peach jam, and peeling peaches is the easiest thing ever! Just drop them in boiling water for a minute or two, then plunge into cold water. The peels just slide right off if the peaches are ripe.
I try REALLY hard to stay away from Facebook games!

Hi...

I don't know if you remember me but I had happened upon your shrug pattern (the one that has since gone from ravelry and other places) either last year or the year before...

I'm not going to ask for help with it, but I wanted you to know I figured it out! to the point where I've made several more and have even modified it from your original pattern.

I have written up a technique for it and wanted to check with you first before I did anything like step on toes or violate copyright. If you want me just to keep it to myself, I will... otherwise, I was thinking about putting it on ravelry for free with credit to you but with direction for people with any questions to ask me instead.
