Pattern Testers?
September 1, 2007 by Sleepycat
Here is the beta version of the pattern: Short Sleeved Shrug BETA
(Beta means beta here, folks. I will re-draw the diagrams hopefully later this month when things have calmed down)

If you want to pattern test it and let me know what you think I’d appreciate it. It’s easy to size up or down just by adjusting the starting chain to fit around your ribcage plus 3 chains. When you work the single crochet into the chain it will shorten it enough to give it this shape. You can also easily adjust the bust shaping by using fewer increases or adding more. These sleeve hit me right at the elbow. If I were doing it again I’d make them a bit shorter or longer.
Your mileage may vary. ![]()

Thank you for sharing-I may use some of the new yarn I bought last week to try it out.
Excellent! Thank you for sharing! I may start on it this weekend.
Ok Ill try it and take pics and let you know
Going to try it today! I’m a size 2x so I’ll let you know of anything that happens as I size up. Thanks for the great pattern!
is this home address? or E-mail?
I have started this pattern and am STUCK. Am I missing something? At what point do I make the matching left side? Your drawn pictures do not adequately describe what’s happening. You need to provide a written description in addition to this pattern.
What do you mean, “Go back to the opposite side of Row 8…” Just exactly where is that?
My initial rows 1 through 22 do not look like your drawn diagram. (My A is the same width as my B.)
Just what are those first 8 rows? When do they come into play?
Also, I ASSUMED that you intended to say “Ch. 2. Turn.” at the end of each row. Your pattern should so indicate, so that I don’t have to assume anything.
Thanks for your help. I love the esc stitch.
I’m sorry you’re having difficulty. I’m sorry the diagrams aren’t as helpful as I had hoped they would be. You sound very frustrated and it may be that I should just take the pattern down. Someone had asked me to write it up and I did the best I could. I’m in the midst of exam prep right now and don’t have the time to redraw diagrams until probably mid-February.
A was not the same length as B for me but could be if you are making a longer sleeve or you have sized it down several inches around. A is the sleeve. B goes all the way from the front right of your breastbone around your back to the front left of your breastbone. That is why you start with a chain long enough to go around that area. If I’m understanding where you are, you have the front of the right sleeve and a long strip. If you hold the front of the right sleeve up to the front of your right arm and the right side of your chest you should be able to wrap the long strip around your ribcage, behind your back and have it come around to the left front just below your bustline.
Row 8 is the row before you chained 25 for the first sleeve. If you go the opposite end of that row - the end opposite where you chained 25 for the first sleeve - that is where the second sleeve starts. If you have the long piece around your ribcage it would be the end touching the left side of your breastbone.
In my personal experience, the phrase “work in pattern” means work as the previous rows indicated were worked inclusive of turning chains. That is the model I was following. Again, I’m sorry for your trouble.
I look forward to testing this pattern- how lucky we are that you are sharing it! I’ll be sure to ask if I have any questions.
Wow! When one tests something they should at least email you. I think it is great that you are sharing your work.
Perhaps the tester above is just coming off badly? I hope so.
I love you sleepy cat!
Are you still looking for pattern testers for this? I’m a crocheter and I would love to try this.
Hi there sleepycat …. I would really love a copy of your Shrug pattern but cannot access it, comes up file not found. Would it be possible to send me a copy via email attachment? southern_colours@yahoo.com.au. I’m from Perth, Australia.
