- It’s almost the middle of April and I wake up to snow twice last week and measurable snow yesterday. This. Sucks.
- Furnace died Wednesday. DH built a fire and then messed with the furnace and got it to blow hot air again for a while.
- Woke up Thursday morning and the house was 60 degrees. We have a programmable thermostat that bumps the temp up in the morning so it’s at least 67 when I get out of bed. Not Thursday. Apparently reports of the furnace still working were premature.
- The furnace repair guy came out that afternoon and the furnace replacement salesman came out a little later. Option one is $750+ to replace the circuit board and leave us with the 80% efficiency furnace that came with the house. Option two is $3,200 and upgrades us to a 90% efficiency furnace. Option three is $6,000 and includes a 90% efficiency gas furnace and a heat pump. *sigh*
- Why do I have to deal with this now? It’s freaking April. I should be able to not care about the furnace and shop around for a good deal sometime over the summer. Grumble, grumble, grumble.
